BREAKING: Ohio & Indiana deliver gas tax relief. What is Michigan waiting for?

“Democrats in Lansing can suspend the gas tax today and they are choosing not to. Your pain is their plan.”

While John James has continued to call for a suspension of both the state and federal gas tax, Lansing Democrats have continuously failed to provide relief.

Meanwhile, as of TODAY, Ohio suspended its state gas tax and Indiana extended their suspension, proving it can be done. Ohio and Indiana are already "eating Michigan’s lunch" when it comes to jobs, growth, and opportunity, now they’re beating us to providing relief at the pump, too. Not shocking.

Republican House Speaker Matt Hall has indicated the House will hold a vote on a gas tax pause if the Senate sends one over. Senate Majority Leader Winnie Brinks is open to a suspension, but unfortunately, Jocelyn Benson has continued to reject a suspension, claiming it would “hurt Michigan families,”

Democrats in Lansing can suspend the gas tax today and they are choosing not to. This is their playbook. Your pain is their plan. They want to stand at podiums and talk about affordability while Michigan families stand at the pump and continue to pay for their inaction.

Republican-led Ohio and Indiana didn’t wait around for Washington. They acted, and put people over politics. Yet, Michigan families are still waiting on Lansing to make a difference, just like they have been for the last eight years.

Michigan is paying some of the highest gas prices in the country and is in need of real leadership to provide real relief. Unfortunately for us, it’s more of the same Democrat dysfunction.

Will Jocelyn Benson finally support a state gas tax suspension? Will Winnie Brinks send a bill to the House? Will Gretchen Whitmer sign it? Michigan families are waiting.
