AS MICHIGAN HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS BEGIN, JAMES COMMITS TO PROTECTING GIRLS’ SPORTS, BENSON WON’T

SCOTUS has cleared the way for states to protect girls’ sports. Michigan has failed to act. John James will.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MI — Michigan high school sports kicked off Monday, with student-athletes across the state returning to practice and preparing for another season of competition. But as Michigan girls take the field, court, and track, the state has failed to ensure they are competing on a fair and level playing field.

Three school districts in Michigan are currently under investigation by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights for Title IX violations, including biological males competing in girls’ sports and using girls’ locker rooms.

The U.S. Supreme Court has upheld state laws reserving girls’ sports for biological girls. Yet, the Michigan High School Athletic Association has failed to change its policy to protect female athletes.

Jocelyn Benson has made clear that female athletes can’t count on her either. When given the opportunity to say whether she would protect girls’ sports and keep biological males out of female competition, Benson said she would not.

John James has been clear: he WILL protect women’s sports.

As Governor, he will ensure Michigan girls compete against other girls, protect fair competition and safe locker rooms, and preserve opportunities for female athletes. It’s common sense.

“Modern leftists are advocating for a position where biological men can dominate biological women. I fundamentally have a problem with that. It’s not just a matter of tradition. It’s a matter of safety and fairness.”

— John James

Only one candidate will protect women’s sports: John James.
