MACOMB COUNTY LEADERS RALLY BEHIND JOHN JAMES GOP FRONTRUNNER FOR GOVERNOR

Shelby Township, MI — Macomb County leaders who know John James best, including county officials, state legislators, and a hometown mayor, announced their endorsement of his campaign for governor. They point to the Macomb County resident’s record that begins in the United States Army, where James graduated from West Point, became Ranger qualified, and flew Apache helicopters in combat. After serving his country, he came home to help grow a Michigan automotive logistics company, protect paychecks, and create jobs for working families.

Conservative leaders in Macomb know that John James is the only candidate that can beat both Democrats in November and lead a strong Republican ticket to hold Michigan’s Tenth Congressional District, keep the State House, and flip the State Senate. Their support reflects personal trust earned through years of delivering for his neighbors in Macomb, and confidence that James will restore the American Dream for people who work hard, play by the rules, and deserve a fair shot.

The Macomb County for James Coalition includes:

Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido
State Representative Jay DeBoyer
State Representative Alicia St. Germaine
State Representative Tom Kuhn
Macomb County Commissioner Chair of the Board Joseph Sabatini
Macomb County Commissioner Jim Perna
Macomb County Commissioner Joe Romano
Macomb County Commissioner Don Van Syckle
Macomb County Commissioner Barb Zinner
Macomb Township Supervisor Frank J. Viviano
Centerline Mayor Bob Binson
Clinton Township Clerk Kim Meltzer
Clinton Township Trustee Dan Kress
Warren City Councilman Gary Boike
Warren City Councilman Dave Dwyer
Warren Police Chief Emeritus and Farmington Hills City Councilman Bill Dwyer
Shelby Township Supervisor Rick Stathakis
Shelby Township Trustee John Vermeulen

“I’ve known John James as a family man, a businessman, and a leader who does things the right way. You can’t fix Michigan if you can’t win. John James is the only Republican who can beat the Democrats in November. If we want to change the direction of this state, we need a nominee who can actually get across the finish line, and that’s John.”

— Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido

State Representative Alicia St. Germaine pointed to James’ commitment to protecting and strengthening Selfridge Air National Guard Base.

“Selfridge is critical to our economy, our national security, and the future of Macomb County. It supports thousands of jobs and plays a vital role in our state’s defense. Protecting our way of life in Michigan also means safeguarding the Great Lakes and the communities that depend on them. John James understands both and as governor, he’ll be a strong partner in protecting Selfridge and preserving what makes Michigan special.”

— State Representative Alicia St. Germaine

State Representative Jay DeBoyer highlighted the need for election integrity and public trust.

“Michigan voters deserve confidence in their elections. John James has been clear and consistent about securing our elections, enforcing the law, and restoring trust in the process. That leadership is essential if we want fair elections and real accountability in Lansing.”

— State Representative Jay DeBoyer

John James said the endorsements reflect shared priorities and growing momentum across Southeast Michigan.

“These leaders know their communities and understand the challenges Michigan families face. I’m honored by their support and focused on winning in November, restoring accountability in state government, and delivering results for the people of Michigan.”

— John James

Currently, Team John James sits with an approximately $7.3 million cash on hand war chest and commanding primary lead, with John James as the only Republican currently leading both Democratic opponents in general-election polling.

Macomb County has long played a decisive role in statewide elections, and the expanding list of endorsements signals continued momentum behind John James as Republicans unify around a candidate positioned to win and govern effectively on day one.
