A family-first, freedom-first, prevention-first agenda to lower costs, expand access to healthcare in every corner of Michigan, protect informed consent, improve food quality, reduce toxic exposure, end the maternal health crisis killing Michigan mothers at preventable rates, rebuild long-term health, and strengthen domestic pharmaceutical manufacturing to protect America’s health security.

John James MAHA Record in Congress

John James has consistently voted in support of MAHA policy initiatives in Congress.

• In April, John James voted to pass the nation’s first Farm Bill in eight years.
• John James also voted to ban foreign governments like China from buying American farmland.

A James Administration Will

• Audit state-controlled food purchases and remove synthetic dyes, harmful additives, and ultra-processed defaults.
• Launch a practical toxic-load reduction plan for PFAS, pesticides, forever chemicals and preventable exposures in water, soil, and food.
• Use price transparency, direct primary care, telehealth, rural provider recruitment, and fraud reduction to lower costs and expand access.
• Reward farmer-led soil health, regenerative agriculture, runoff reduction, water retention, and local whole-food supply chains.
• Require transparent advisory processes, conflict disclosures, independent safety-data review, and plain-English risk-benefit information.
• Put prevention first: nutrition, movement, sleep, metabolic health, maternal health, addiction recovery, early intervention, and chronic illness awareness.
• Address Michigan’s Black maternal mortality crisis head on, investing in culturally competent care so Black women are heard when they raise concerns about their health. Eliminate racial disparities in pregnancy-related deaths, nearly three quarters of which are preventable.
• Expand access to maternal healthcare in all 18 of Michigan’s maternity care desert counties because where you live in Michigan should never determine whether you live at all.
• Tackle Detroit’s heart disease crisis where residents experience heart disease rates 61% higher than the rest of the state.
• As Governor John James will expand the mental health workforce, modernize licensing pathways, bring Michigan youth home by rebuilding in-state treatment capacity and treat mental health and addiction together. Compassion does not mean abandonment. It means treatment, structure, accountability and a path back.
